Statement From Governor Rodgers On Death Of Former Gov Erick Leeman

FROM GOVERNOR LYNN RODGERS

For Immediate Release

July 30, 2024

RUFUS - It is a sad to announce the passing of New Shire's 27th Governor, Erick Leeman. I just learned of his passing from a member of his family. My thoughts and prayers are with the Leeman family during this time. Governor Leeman served from 1960 - 1966, four terms and signed over 2,000 articles of legislation. Our thoughts continue to be with members of his family, friends and his closest children.

His career spanned more than 40 years in public service, first serving in the Jesstopian Army Reserves from 1956-1960. He served in multiple roles including as Captain and then as Sergeant. He completed two who combat tours and was discharged honorably from the Military. During his military career he focused on humanitarian efforts, working with the Jesstopian military to build homes for those who were destroyed by warfare.

He first ran for Governor back in 1959, after coming home. He was honorably discharged from the Military to focus on his campaign here at home. When he finally won election as the 27th Governor Of New Shire, he focused much of his attention on veterans issues, signing legislation to ensure no veteran went without the bare necessities. He worked on building shelters for the homeless veterans scattered throughout New Shire.

His life and legacy in public life will never dim and on this sad day, we remember the sacrifices he made not only for this State, but for the sacrifices he made for our country. May he rest in peace, may his family find comfort and may he continue to rest in peace for eternity.

Signed,
Lynn Rodgers

Governor Of New Shire
